‘thermochromatic’ furniture

Have you ever experience the furniture that changes its shades with the variation in the body temperature of the person sitting over it? I am sure you haven’t as the furniture hasn’t yet hit the market.

The great minds behind the concept are Erin Hayne and Nuno Gonçalves Ferreira. Known as ‘thermochromatic’ furniture, an array of stools, chairs and other household furnishings is available with the similar functionality. Governed by the body-heat, the appearance of the resultant shades on the furniture is interesting. A mere touch can show its effects leaving temporary marks behind in the form of complementary colors.

‘thermochromatic’ furniture

But within minutes, furniture gains its original form inviting people to play with its features. Called “The Swamp Collection” by Visual Reference Studio, the form of the furniture is enthused by the flora and fauna of the Mississippi cypress swamp, the vicinity of the studio. These exclusive fittings would hit the market in the coming 4-6 weeks. No news about its price.

Sunday, August 26th, 2007 | Technology with No Comments »

DeFIBulator

Let me first demystify the mystery behind the functionality of this hand-held device. Tested at the Labs in Singapore, Spion has lately unveiled DeFIBulator that makes use of the voice tension technology to detect voice-tension by measuring sensations in the tone.

So, the next time you plan to cook a story before your parents/ boyfriends or even fiancée; check it they aren’t carrying DeFIBulator as you may end-up screwing your life. The intensity of the vibration may vary from a position of being quiet, nervous and can even catch you when you lie. The rate of accuracy is 65% and can be allied to your mobile.

Working:

First of all, DeFIBulator needs to identify user’s voice. The familiarity process begins by recording the voice for a baseline by asking the liar three possible yes or no questions. While the questions are being answered, the user is expected to watch the screen and the honesty is reflected on the signals/ symbols on the digital stature of “Demonochio”. The greater the lies, the more will be the raise in the Demonochio’s nose and horns and vice-versa. Also, the suspected person’s voice can easily be detected and can be made the butt of the evening without his prior notice. This will surely put an end to the ‘smart’ liars.

No matter you are at school, park or party, the fun is promised with the truth revealed through this gadget.

Time to do away with detergents! Now it is possible to remove strains from clothes without even using a drop of water. And this is made possible by waterless washing machine. Having won the ElectroLux Design Lab 2005 Award, the AirWash makes use of negative ions and dense air to offer spotless clothes. This technology is stimulated by the waterfall, nature’s own negative ion factory.

AirWash Washing Machine

Blessed with a reputation of waterless washing machine designed for the comfort of the homes of 2020, this is considered by people from now only. This conventional and eco-friendly way of cleaning clothes would surely cut down the electricity and water bills. It is this multi-functionality only that is raising a big question against the potential of prevalent dry-cleaners.
