LHC at CERN All Set for its Date with Destiny!

Sunday, August 10th, 2008 | Announcement, Gadgets with 1 Comment

September 10 is the day that the world will hold its breath in anticipation of something dramatic and many will be praying that it is nothing catastrophic. The Large Hadron Collider is all set to start its adventure with a world unknown as it lay buried deep under Swiss soil. Once the LHC is operational it will open up new dimensions (Quite literally) and possibilities that were unknown to man or beyond his reach at any time in the past. LHC will, without a shadow of a doubt, be the greatest technological achievement and the grandest gadget that man has ever made till date!

The LHC will begin operations in a little over a month. On September 10, the most sophisticated particle accelerator will go online, injecting the first circulation of accelerated particles. Actual experiments involving collisions will occur once scientists are satisfied the LHC is fully optimized and calibration is complete. The LHC has been undergoing “cool-down” for some time, ensuring the LHC’s eight sectors are approaching the 1.9K (-271°C) operational temperature (that is 1.9 degrees above absolute zero). All going well, on September 10, the first beam will be accelerated to an energy of 450 GeV (0.45 TeV) through its imperious circle.

The task of synchronizing Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) with the LHC has kicked off on August 9 and it will be going on through the rest of August. The LHC will accelerate sub-nuclear particles such as protons and will cause collision of two such particles to observe what exactly happens when sub-nuclear particles collide. The possibilities here are endless as scientists will be getting their very first glimpse of the kind of collisions that early Universe after Big Bang harbored and will also potentially give us our first Worm Hole and even anti-matter!

The possibilities are endless, but rest assured that there will be no Black Hole formed that will swallow the planet or anti-matter created to an extent that it will annihilate earth. While it will create probably the first known Worm Hole, it will in no way be enough for time travel both in dimensions and in length of time. Buried deep under Swiss soil the huge curve of 27 Km radius will be man’s greatest gadget ever when fully operational!

Vista Box Needs Instructions to Open

Thursday, February 14th, 2008 | Announcement, Computer, Design, Gadget Reviews, Gadget Tech Specs, Gadgets, Gadgets news, Gizmo News, Laptops, Mobile, Technology with No Comments »

Oh Microsoft, when will you ever live down the Apple comparisons? It’s not all the mactards’ fault, you know—not when you are pulling stunts like this. Seriously, you have a “How To” page showing customers “how to” open the Vista software packaging—and it’s a 3-step process.

The Windows Vista box opens with a swing-out section that holds your DVD and manuals. The box has two security seals that need to be cut or removed before it can be opened. To open the box 1. On the top of the box, cut along the grooves on either side of the Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity label. 2. Peel the red tabbed label off the front of the box and discard. 3. Holding the box with the Windows logo facing you, grasp the red tab on the top of the box, and pull it to the right to open the box as shown here.

But how do we pull out the disc? There’s gotta be another instructions page. We’re sitting here with a half-finished Vista install opening and Microsoft wouldn’t let us down. [microsoft via wired]
