Today Fujitsu Laboratories announce a couple of new technology that should help prevent data stored on a USB flash drive from end pc gadgets in the wrong hands. The first is the protected USB memory device prototypes pictured above that may have been inspired by a piece of hard derive cheese. It works like your standard USB flash drive Fujitsu computer key drive but it’s got a processor and battery on-board that can be used to mechanically erase the data after a specified amount of time, or if the flash drive is plug into an unregistered computer.

The second growth is a file redirect new technology that can stop notbook windows exile files on a USB flash drive from being saved to another computer, or uploaded to an unapproved server. I’m not exactly sure how that technology is intended to work, since the Fujitsu press release is a little vague on the details, but the goal is to prevent secret files from being e-mail outside the office, or even printed.

Has evolved as the Mac Mini, one of the first mini computers go on the market and can say that has not had a PC to compete in height. MacRumors has published what appears, with almost certainly a picture New Mac Mini this year. Obvious, 5 USB ports nothing short mini DVI port and a mini DisplayPort, exactly the same as the portable audio input and output, FireWire 800 and one Ethernet port. In addition, filter characteristics:

1. Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz 3MB L2 cache.
2. 2GB RAM DDR3.
3. SATA optical drive Super Drive.

Not bad for a computer that lacks only the screen to be portable.

There is just something creepy about this USB hub that comes in the form of a forlorn looking cat, as you open up its back downwards to reveal a trio of USB 2.0 ports, while the cover ends up as the tail instead. Pretty clever design if you ask me. In addition, it looks as though it is gazing after its USB cable for the longest time in its life (all nine of them apparently). This is just what you need for Christmas. A cat USB hub. It will charge up your gadgets with precious kitty spinal fluid.

And if you don’t want to perform a USB spinal tap, there’s another port in it’s mouth. It will spend it’s 9 lives on your desk with it’s head down in shame as you shamelessly suck it’s meow meow power. You can get it wholesale. Your real cat will not be amused. Usb hubs have never been so cute and slightly creepy.Too bad you won’t be able to pick this up at retail stores since it is only available in bulk purchases via Alibaba. At least this is better than most USB hub designs we see these days.

If you’re one for taking your information with you on the go, then you might be interested in the latest USB drive from LaCie. The LaCie CurrenKey is a USB 2.0 drive that looks like a coin. Yes, you read that correctly. It actually looks like a coin.Made from metal, this flash drive will even feel like a coin in your hand. I’m sorry, but this thing is just asking to get lost, don’t you think? Sure, it’s a lot thicker than any coin I know of, but it’s most likely super light and could get lost in the shuffle of pocket clutter.

If this is something that interests you, however, the Currey’s drive is available in a 4GB model that sports a bronze finish and an 8GB model in silver. Beginning at $19.99, they aren’t too big of an investment and might be just the storage you need from a reliable name.

A cheap and decent kit to convert a USB device in Wireless USB. Cables Unlimited put up for sale this kit, not compatible with 802.11 WiFi networks, with which you can use a USB gadget like a portable hard drive, from another room. The kit comes in two emitters / receivers, but with a single base, that way you add your gadget to the base and one of the issuers to the top of the base.

The other transmitter / receiver connects to your PC and as if by magic, you’ll see mounted hard drive, or printer, or a camera … on your PC. There is a problem, the radius of action of this is like the Bluetooth adapter, from about 10 meters away, I imagine that without obstacles such as walls.
